Quality

This is how a Wilcox Engineering & Research Custom Built AN/PVS-14A starts out, as a collection of brand new individual parts that are inspected for quality.

These parts are then assembled using proprietary solvents and lubricants to ensure long life and proper operation.   The assembly of these AN/PVS-14As follows the guidelines outlined in Technical Manual 11-5855-306-23&P.

These parts are tested during the assembly for proper mechnical and electrical operation.   Such tests include free movement of the gain control as shown here and end to end rotation without any binding or grinding of the objective and eyepiece lenses as seen below.

During the assembly process protective caps are used on the lenses to keep them clean and protect them from any damage.  Anti-static foam blocks are used to cover the flex cable plug pins to ensure that the electronics are not damaged by Electro Static Discharge, as seen here.

As the major parts are inspected and tested,  their serial numbers are annotated on the AN/PVS-14A Buildup WorkSheet for future reference and any warranty issues.  Critical tasked are identified here so that no key procedure is overlooked.  Objective and subjective testing is also annotated here to provide the Customer with performance information, as shown below.

We specialize in building Custom equipment for our Customers to their specifications.  Recommendations as to what image tube characteristics needed for a specific night vision operation is also provided, such as high Halo value for AutoGated Image Intensifiers for weapons mounted application.

We also specialize in supplying out Customers with mission critical adapters and accessories, such as the Custom head mount shown below.  This head mount uses a modified L-3 head harness with the Wilcox Industries adapter mount.  The modification is needed to enable the reed switch in the adapter mount to actuate when brought close to the L-3 headmount's attachment point.
